Our story

Small batches, one wedding at a time

Every Elderlace cake starts at a tasting table and ends at your venue. In between, it is baked, filled and finished by hand in the week of your wedding, using real butter, free-range eggs and fruit and flowers from local growers.

Baked that week

Sponges are baked fresh for your date, so the cake tastes as it should.

Proper ingredients

Real butter, free-range eggs, and fruit in season wherever we can.

Questions

What couples ask us

How far ahead should we book?

Most couples get in touch six to twelve months before the wedding, and summer Saturdays go first. If your date is sooner, it's still worth asking.

How many tiers will we need?

As a rough guide, two tiers suit around 50 guests, three suit around 100, and four or a separate cutting cake work for 120 and over. We'll work it out with you at the tasting.

Can each tier be a different flavour?

Yes, and most couples do. Choose a flavour for every tier, or keep one tier just for the two of you.

Do you deliver and set up?

Yes. We deliver to venues across the Peak District and beyond, build the cake on site and dress it with flowers.

Can you match our flowers?

We can work with your florist on fresh flowers, or make sugar flowers to match your bouquet.

Can we have a dummy tier?

Yes. A decorated dummy tier gives you extra height without extra cake, and it can be mixed with real tiers.
